Great weather and big time events: Sun Valley is the place for perfect Spring skiing

Warming temperatures and deep blue skies make for perfect Spring skiing at Sun Valley. This year’s deep snowpack has set up the mountain beautifully for your world-class alpine experience.

And if you're a college student or faculty member, the lift rate is hard to beat. For $29/day and a current college ID, students and faculty can take advantage of this great rate starting March 1 and all the way through the end of Sun Valley's ski season.

Also beginning March 1, kids ski free! A maximum of one child (15 years old and under) will receive one free child ticket with each paid adult ticket for the same number of days. For a list of lodging and lift package opportunities during the kids ski free period and to book your family spring getaway, click here.

Temperatures aren’t the only thing warming up this Spring at Sun Valley. On the weekend of March 15/16, Sun Valley hosts the grand finale of the Jeep King of the Mountain Tour combined with “48STRAIGHT”— billed as the “Loudest Show on Snow.” The wall-to-wall schedule of events surrounding 48Straight spans both on-snow and off-snow activities, including world-class ski and snowboard cross racing and halfpipe competitions, over a dozen live concerts, street parties and fashion shows.

Here are some lodging/lift packages to take advantage of during the event weekend. Visit 48Straight.com for more event info.

The sports action will feature the world’s most thrilling snow sport events: snowboard cross and ski cross racing. Headliners include the top names in each discipline, including Shaun Palmer, Nate Holland, Seth Wescott, Lindsey Jacobellis, Daron Rahlves, Casey Puckett and Ophelie David, among many other Olympians, World Cup titlists and national champions. A share of $250,000 and the keys to a new Jeep will be on the line.

The heart and soul of the weekend is the 48STRAIGHT Music Festival, an abundance of diverse live performances on Friday and Saturday evening featuring some of the top acts in the industry, spread across town at popular hot spots and the enormous Basecamp Pavilion.

Come to Sun Valley for the incredible scene—and the incredible spring skiing. Start your day on the long world-class groomers. After lunch the south aspects will have great corn snow. You’ll never forget the invigorating mornings and sun-tanned afternoons.
