Competitors are showing off their skills and winning medals at the 19th annual Winter Games of Idaho this year in 19 events at nine venues.

Events in this year's Winter Games include alpine skiing (slalom, giant slalom and telemark), ice hockey, Nordic skiing, snowboarding and figure skating. Athletes of all ages and abilities can register for events held through the month of February in venues from North to South.

The Winter Games of Idaho, presented by Tamarack Resort and Idahowinter.org, is a sports festival created for amateur athletes Throughout the northwest. Initiated as part of the Idaho State Centennial celebration in 1990, the Winter Games is designed to showcase Idaho's winter sport opportunities and the state's winter resorts. The Games also provide a forum for training and competition among the region's recreational athletes and potential Olympians.

While winning plays an important role in the sports festival, the Winter Games strive to emphasize individual achievement and good sportsmanship.
