February is a big month in the Idaho mountains. The Winter Games of Idaho are already underway. Alpine events begin this weekend on Brundage Mountain. Throughout the month 19 events will take place at nine venues all over the state.

The world’s best snowboard athletes converge on Tamarack February 9 and 10 for the 2007-08 Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix. U.S. Olympic medalists, X Games champions and world-class snowboarders go head-to-head at Tamarack on a 22-foot Olympic-sized SuperPipe and on a specially-constructed snowboard cross course.

But there’s something going on at every mountain right now in Idaho—snowriding on perfect snow being the number one activity. Learn more about the awesome backcountry experience at Tamarack in this issue. Plus, check out what’s waiting for you at Lost Trail Powder Mountain and Kelly Canyon—great little regional hills with outstanding snow. For something completely different, little T-bar hills like Bald Mountain and Cottonwood Butte have great skiing and real nice people.

Winter has super momentum this season, with consistent snowfall punctuated by epic dumps. Read on to learn about how to get your share, and the best places to stay while your there…
